» REMINDER - New Datacentre **** REMINDER - THIS IS SCHEDULED FOR THIS WEEKEND **** This is a reminder to clients about the upcoming move to the new datacentre this weekend, as per the previous announcements at http://announce.sonnetuk.info/index.php?p=020 and http://status.sonnetuk.info/index.php?p=030 **** REMINDER - THIS IS SCHEDULED FOR THIS WEEKEND **** We're thrilled to finally be able to share some exciting news with our customers. As part of our continual drive to improve performance, reliability and quality of service for our clients, we have, as some of you are aware, been re-evaluating our datacentre services for some time. The outcome of this has enabled us to plan ahead for the future securely. We are very excited to have reached a new agreement with our preferred partner, which will see us relocate most of our services to a brand new Tier 3 datacentre facility which has been designed to provide the infrastructure and service we require today, and just as importantly, meet the ever increasing demands of the future. The new facility is a fully N+1 redundant dedicated high specification design and build, offering the very latest in 'eco' environmental considerations and biometric security. Each and every aspect of the design meets exacting specification. To take full advantage of these exciting developments we will be relocating servers to the new facility over the weekend of 19-22 June 2009. During the relocation process, which will be performed overnight, there will be a period where your service is unavailable. Please rest assured we will do our very best to ensure this is kept to an absolute minimum. During the relocation windows, which will take place according to the schedule below, each server can be expected to be offline for up to 4 hours, though from past experience we anticipate this may well be far less. Relocation Schedule ------------------- Saturday 20th June (Friday night/Saturday morning): 00:01 - 06:00 Server(s) affected: Aira Skiddaw Client dedicated servers Sunday 21st June (Saturday night/Sunday morning): 00:01 - 06:00 Server(s) affected: Ullswater Monday 22nd June (Sunday night/Monday morning): 00:01 - 06:00 Fine tuning/residual work Please note that each window begins after midnight, so the first window may be referred to as 'Friday night' and so on by staff. The 3rd window is reserved for fine tuning and any residual work which needs to be performed. Hopefully the majority of relocation will be completed successfully during the first two windows. As much preparation work as possible will be done in advance of the scheduled windows, so to reduce the interruption to service for each customer. We do apologise for any inconvenience this essential work may involve. Unfortunately to ensure the work is performed as quickly as possible we are unable to offer specific timeslots for individual customers to be relocated within the defined windows. We encourage all customers to have full backups of their accounts at all times, independent to those stored on our servers. We offer a number of solutions if you require assistance with this, please contact us for available options and/or advice. » Essential Upgrades - Dates Now Scheduled Apologies to those who may already have received this; due to an apparent bug in our announce script we're having to post this again. The previously announced upgrades of our servers have now been scheduled: Aira - 10PM Tuesday November 11th to 2AM Wednesday November 12th Skiddaw - 10PM Wednesday November 12th to 2AM Thursday November 13th Previous experience suggests the upgrades will take a maximum of two hours, however to be conservative in case of issues, and in order to undertake general maintenance at the same time, we have scheduled 4 hour long maintenance windows for both nights. The upgrades will consist of the following: PHP4 will be removed completely PHP5 will be updated to the latest version MySQL will be upgraded to the latest version of MySQL5.x Apache will be upgraded to the latest version of Apache2.x Again, if you have any questions, please contact support at help@sonnetuk.net |
