» Reminder: keep your scripts up to date This is our regular friendly little reminder to all clients to keep your scripts up to date. Due to an ever increasing number of compromised scripts on our servers, in the coming days and weeks we will be undertaking another search of accounts to root out old and insecure installations. If an outdated installation is found, in the first instance clients will receive a request to upgrade or remove their vulnerable script. If this request is not carried out promptly, we may suspend the account or remove or upgrade the script. If we force upgrade a script, any custom modifications or hacks will be lost. Scripts installed using Fantastico or cPanel are NOT automatically updated when the auto-installer program is. It is the responsibility of the user to keep their scripts up to date. Resellers are reminded that scripts running on resold accounts are the resellers responsibility; if one of your clients' scripts is compromised, you will be held responsible for any damage caused. If a script on a user account is exploited, we won't hesitate to disable the content and/or suspend the whole account before contacting the account owner. Keeping your scripts up-to-date helps ensure server stability and helps keep your site up. As always, Sonnet is willing and happy to upgrade installations for all clients at no cost, please submit an upgrade request in a helpdesk ticket if you would like us to do this. We thank you for your co-operation and understanding on this matter. |

» MySQL 5 As some of you may know, 31st Dec 2006 sees the end of standard support for MySQL verson 4.1. Because of this we need to start preliminary planning of a move to MySQL 5.0 or later. We would like to gather customer opinion on this as there are some major changes between MySQL 4.1 and 5.0. These changes may affect applications designed around earlier versions of MySQL. The following page contains information about the implications of upgrading from 4.1 to 5 or higher - http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/upgrading-from-4-1.html We'd really like to hear your opinions and concerns about an upgrade before making any decisions about when to upgrade - please feel free to post them to this thread in the customer forums: http://www.sonnetforums.com/showthread.php?t=219 If you are a customer without access to these restricted forums, please request access here: http://www.sonnetforums.com/showthread.php?t=3 |

» New helpdesk online We're pleased to announce that our new helpdesk is now online, and judging by the feedback we've had so far, is very well received by our customers. Customers can now choose to use the helpdesk either completely by email, through the web frontend, or both. We know you could do that with our old helpdesk, however as the email to ticket functionality seemed to be plagued by problems for us, we're sure users who prefer to use email will see a vast improvement. Unfortunately, it was not possible to carry over the login profiles from the previous helpdesk, so any user wishing to use the web frontend will need to register a new account. We apologise for the inconvenience caused by this. As ever, we value your feedback on the new helpdesk, so please let us know your thoughts in the forum or by email. The URL for the helpdesk remains the same - http://helpdesk.sonnetuk.info/ You can also email the helpdesk at helpdesk(at)sonnetuk.info and now also support(at)sonnetuk.info, ensuring that all support emails now receive prompt attention. |

» Telephone problems We have been made aware of a problem with our telephone line/system. At the moment the problem seems to be limited to incoming calls, resulting in the delay in discovering the issue. We're currently unsure how long this has been ongoing, however we'd like to apologise to any customers who may have attempted to reach us by telephone and not received an answer or call back. Steps are being taken to resolve the problem and we hope to have a fully functioning phone system within the next day or two. Apologies for any inconvenience. |
